Palma de Mallorca History

Palma de Mallorca was officially established by the Romans in 123 BC. But the city, as well as the island itself, was under the ruling of various groups. The island was once ruled by the Moors from 8th to 11th century. The city's present name as well as subjugation to Spain only came in 1229.

The Royal Palace of La Almudaina is the official residence of the Royal Family of Spain during the summer season. Parc de la Mar or Park by the Sea is a popular beach in the city. The beach tends to get noisy because of its proximity to the road but walking a few minutes from the crowd for private moments is possible.

The winters in Palma de Mallorca last three months (December to February), but it's not necessarily snowing in lower parts of the islands. These months are the wet months because of the constant rain. Other than the winter months, the weather in Palma de Mallorca is mostly sunny and dry.
