The city of Malaga is one of the most popular beach destinations in Spain. Located south of Spain, the city offers not just beautiful sandy beaches but very ideal weather conditions throughout the year. Complementing the beaches are more than 50 golf courses scattered around the city. Historical structures are never lacking in Malaga because of its extensive history as early as 770 BCE.
Structures such as Castillo de Gibralfaro, Cathedral de Malaga and Picasso museum are highly recommended for any tourist.
Malaga Airport
The Malaga Airport or the Pablo Ruiz Picasso Airport (AGP) is one of the oldest functioning airports in the world. Its operations started in 1919 and currently have two terminals with one runway. A 3rd terminal is under construction with a second runway will be completed by 2010. The airport is considered the most important airport in Andalusia because of its ability to receive flights from other countries including New York, Germany and Middle East countries. Busses for the city center leave every 30 minutes.
The airport is only 8 kilometers from the city and the bus usually stops in Paseo del Parque which is also a stop for many busses to other places in Malaga. Other forms of transportation such as car rentals, taxis and trains are also available.
