History of Faro
Faro is a small parish located in the Northwest region of Spain. This small community is part of the town called Viveiro in the province of Lugo. As part of Vivero’s history, Faro was once a shelter for the Romans and Celts. However, it was only during 12th and 13th century that the town of Viveiro started to grow in population.

Although Faro is primarily a stop for many tourists before going to places in North West Spain, it has some few attractions of its own. The natural rural setting of the parish is already an attraction in itself. Viveiro is a large town and Faro provides an access point to other communities. There are beaches, lakes and rivers that surround Faro which should not be missed by any tourist. Viveiro has 7 kilometers of beaches and a marina.

The best way to experience Faro is through hiking. Faro is in the higher area of Viveiro and the hills provide a magnificent view of the town below. There are ruins of a Celtic Castle in Faro where tourists can admire the picturesque setting of the town.
