Flights to Barcelona

Barcelona is the second city in Spain, and the main one of Cataluna, located in the eastern coast of the Iberian peninsula. Although, it has a very strong and proud cultural identity, it is a modern and cosmopolite town, with an active local economy which has generated important innovations on the structure and civil habits of the city.

Barcelona Airport

The airport serving the town of Barcelona is known as El Prat (BCN) and is only 12 km away from the town centre. Being the second most important airport in Spain after Madrid Barajas, it is a major flight intersection point for national and international destinations. El Prat airport is also where Spanish low cost companies Vueling and Clickair are based but, overall, it serves more than 50 airline companies. During the 1992 Olympic Games the airport building and connections to Barcelona have been thoroughly modernized and, because of the increasing number of passengers travelling through Barcelona airport, a third terminal has recently been built. There are multiple ways to get to and from the airport to Barcelona town centre. The train line C2 takes up to 40 minutes depending on the boarding station and is operating every 30 minutes approximately. There are special airport transfers by bus (Aerobus) departing from central Barcelona to Airport Terminals and also various Metropolitan buses which are also available at night. Otherwise, you can be completely flexible by renting a car with one of the main hire car companies: Hertz, National Atesa, Avis or Europcar.
