Flights to Almeria
The city of Almeria is a relatively small but very beautiful tourist destination in Spain. Located in the southeast end of the country, the city boasts of impressive historical structures as well as natural beauty rarely found in Europe.
Tourists often visit the triple wall surrounding the city called Alcazaba as well as its fortress-like Cathedral. Beaches located in the eastern portion of the city are also popular to tourists especially in Las Salinas.
Almeria is also considered the "Little Hollywood" of Spain because of the desert located in Tabernas. This became the ideal location for various well known western films such as Indiana Jones and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
Almeria Airport
The city's airport is the Almeria Airport (LEI). The airport receives international flights from UK and Germany. The airport also receives local flights particularly from Barcelona and Madrid. Iberia Airlines (through Denim Air), Jetairfly, EasyJet and Ándalus Líneas Aéreas are the regular airlines that use the airport. Other airlines such as RyanAir, Luxair and Monarch Airlines only use the airport when there is a demand and travel season. The airport is located 9 kms. from the city center. Busses leave the airport every 30 minutes and serviced by Surbus. Taxis are also available as well as car rental provided by a company that represents major car rental companies around the world.
