Holidays in Zaragoza


History

What we call today Zaragoza used to be named in the past Salduba or Saldyva. That was the name for a military post of the Carthaginian that was built on the rubles of the Celtiberian village. The city was later taken over by the Arabs and renamed it as Saraqusta. It became the biggest city in Northern Spain that was controlled by the Arabs.

Attractions

The main attractions in Zaragoza are mostly its old buildings and castles. For instance, the Moorish castle called the Aljaferia is one of the popular attractions here and it is considered to be the most important of all Moorish buildings in the entire north of Spain. The Church of San Gil and other churches that had been built during the 14th century are also popular attractions. The Museum of Fine Arts is the place where Aragonese paintings are kept dating from the 15th century. The outdoor type of tourists can enjoy a picnic by the river.

Going Out

If you plan to go out while in Zaragoza then expect a lot of delicious foods and amazing nightlife. In Zaragoza go out to enjoy some delicious tapas.  Just like any city, Zaragoza also knows how to have fun and in Zaragoza you can party in many nightclubs, pubs and bars. Drink some beer and just chill the way the locals do. You’d love it!

Weather

Zaragoza can be really hot, the temperature here goes  up to 40 degrees Celsius during summer. It has a semi-arid climate with minimal rainfall.
