Holidays in Barcelona


Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain after Madrid. It is located on the coast of the Mediterranean sea. The city has a Mediterranean climate with warm and dry summers and humid winters. December, January and February are the coldest months here, but you can plan your holiday between June and September and enjoy the warmth (July and August are the hottest months).

Things to see in Barcelona

Barcelona has an impressive number of parks: 68 in total which are divided into botanical parks, historic parks or forest parks. Montjuic is the largest, located on a mountain. The second biggest park is Ciutadella Park which houses the zoo and several museums. Remarkable is also Labyrinth Park which contains an impressive garden maze. Make sure you visit this touristic attraction during your stay in Barcelona. Having taken a breath of fresh air in Barcelona's parks, you can move to the beaches. The city has seven beaches - Sant Sebastia and Barceloneta beaches are the largest. Smaller beqaches like Mar Bella, Bogatell etc. were open during the Summer Olympic Games in 1992.


For a cultural holiday visit the museums in Barcelona: National Museum of Art of Catalonia, Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art or Picasso Museum. From an architectural point of view, a must-see is The Barri Gotic ("the Gothic Quarter") which is the old centre of Barcelona - the church Sagrada Familia is an emblem of Barcelona.

Shopping in Barcelona

The area near Avinguda Diagonal is the main shopping area in Barcelona. Shop til you drop in the city's commercial complexes: L'Illa, Diagonal Mar, La Maquinista and Glories. Take the time to admire the skyscrapers Hotel Arts and Torre Mapfre.
