Flights to Granada

Located in the southern region of Spain, Granada is considered a hotspot for young professionals. The University of Granada is very popular in Europe because of the quality of education. The number of young professionals and students in the city has also established Granada as a city with lively nightlife.

Granda History

Aside from the vibrant nightlife and education, Granada is very important to Spanish history. After its conquest during the 2nd half of the 15th century, Granada’s conquest became the starting point of Spain’s rise to power as they started colonising other countries around the world. The numerous catholic churches that still exist today were built as a sign of Spanish conquest of Granada.

Granada Airport

There are many ways to get to Granada but the easiest is through Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport. The airport is less than 10 miles west from the city center and the modes of transportation from the city to the airport are taxis and busses. Other cities located near the airport are Santa Fe, Chauchina and Jaen which shares the name of the airport with Granada. The airport was opened for public use in 1972. Since its opening, the number of passengers has steadily increased. From the year 2000 to 2008, the number of passengers rose from 500,000 to 1.4 million passengers. Even though the airport is not a popular destination for international flights, the airport is a popular local destination. Most of the flights that go in and out of the airport are operated by low fare airlines. There are only two international flights going in and out of Granada: Milan and Bologna.
