Costa Almeria Beach
History
The Alcazaba of Almeria was founded during the 10th Century by Cordoba. Alcazaba was the defense force of the Islam and they were the dominating force. To the east side of the fortress is now the Ermita de San Juan chapel which used to be a mosque later taken by the Catholics. Costa Almeria became very wealthy due to commercial trading it developed, trading especially silk.
Attractions
Almeria City is an attraction in itself. This ancient city lies at the base of the bay. Here you’ll find the Cathedral established in 1524 which looks like a fortress. Inside the fortress you’ll find different forms of arts.
Tabernas, on the other hand, is a great place for movie fanatics. It feels like you’re in a movie set inspired by the Wild West.
Going Out
Costa Almeria does not have all the coolest night spots but there are still lots of late night entertainment that you’ll enjoy here. Check the fine restaurants offering regional cuisines. If there’s anything to expect from the menu, it’s the tapas!
Beaches
Costa Almeria has diverse beaches that include fine beaches and rocky coves. The coastline here has a total length of 200 kilometers so you’re sure to find lots of beaches. Almerimar, Almeria and San Jose Beaches are just 3 of the best beaches here.
Weather
The weather in Almeria is the sunniest and the driest in Europe with 320 sunny days a year (a good reason to choose it for your beach holiday).
