City Breaks in Bilbao
History
Don Diego Lopez de Haro V founded Bilbao back in June 15, 1300, he was the Lord of Biscay. The name Bilbao has unknown origins but some believe that Bilbao came from two words “bel vado” which means good river crossing or it may have come from “bi albo” which means 2 riverbanks.

The weather in Bilbao is known to be “oceanic” and that means it is generally mild although during summer you can also experience extreme weather for a few days. The temperature here had reached 42.2 degrees Celsius in 2003 but this is not very common.
